Sailor Moon Party Ideas On A Budget

sailor moon birthday banner diy

My oldest daughter has recently turned nine and since she loves Sailor Moon, I knew I had to incorporate the popular anime into her birthday. Sailor moon party decorations are a bit to difficult to find, especially in a moments notice. I don’t typically like to spend much for birthday parties as it can get very costly especially with multiple children. I am going to share how we found some ways to create a Sailor Moon birthday theme.

On our recent trip to Ross, my husband found this chalkboard for our front door area. I had a small one that I placed on a table, so I was more than excited that he found this one. Ross is always great to find home decor with a great price tag and I already know this will be well used for every event and season. Keilani is a little artist and I asked her to draw each of the sailor senshi, each sharing a little description of the party!

This banner was easily created due to this beautiful PDF file that I found online by HaleGrafx. I printed each graphic on a white cardstock paper on draft option. At first, I chose the highest print quality but it obviously used too much ink that I know I won’t have the chance to print all without having to go to the store to replace the ink cartridge.

The PDF file includes four illustrations of the characters, but my daughter chose only three since she wanted Sailor Moon and Luna to be the main character for her banner. It is very enjoyable to see what my daughter picks because I love her way of thinking and design without my opinion getting in the middle of it. After all she is getting older, it’s nice to see the choices she makes!

party city decor lanterns

These yellow and silver lanterns, stars, and circular backdrops were a perfect addition to this theme even though it doesn’t contain any sailor moon characters. Since Sailor Moon is all about the planets, moon, and stars… I thought it would work wonderfully. I purchased these from Party city and tied it on the rope that is holding the banner together.

When I originally bought the stars decorations, I had no clue how I was going to use it. It didn’t include any strings, just plain stars. Good thing the lanterns came with it’s own set of thin strings, therefore I ended up connecting two lanterns together. I then taped the stars on the strings in between the lanterns.

sailor moon cake

The best tasting and affordable cake that you can buy is from either Costco or Walmart. Those two grocery stores are the closest to where I live and I ended up choosing Walmart because they have marble cake option. Not only that, but this blue, yellow, and red color theme is the perfect one to match Sailor Moon! Anyone notice that red bow in the back? I love it! I found these cake toppers from amazon and I placed it perfectly on the edges of the cake leaving that small area for the candles.

sailor moon cake topper

I love the style of these cake toppers, it definitely worked perfect for it! I didn’t have to submerged these in the cake but just lightly placed them on top of it because of its circular and flat platforms. I love how they included Tuxedo Mask as he is her one true love! Just look at their expressions, it’s just too cute.

felt like sharing yellow felt letter board

Okay, so obviously my daughter is not blonde but this headband that I also found at Party City is the cutest and fits the purpose. I believe it’s called Pom Pom headbands to be exact. They have so many colors and styles, but we chose this one because it resembles the most to Sailor Moon. If you have a Party City or a party store near you, check the back area for their color themed party supplies! To add to the party decorations, this yellow felt letter board is a fun addition and also perfect for pictures!

Last but not least, my daughter drew each sign for each station in the party. It’s amazing how there is five sailor scouts and five stations which works in our favor. I just gave a little direction as to what each scout is supposed to represent and my daughter always delivers! Sailor Moon eats a lot of sweets, Mercury’s power is bubbles so she gets the drinks, Jupiter loves to cook, Venus is the gamer as she has her own Sailor V game even though our fun activity was a bouncy house, and as for Mars.. I don’t really have an idea, but she ended up taking over the presents area! Woo hoo! If you or your child would rather not draw your own signs, you could easily find any graphic images online and print them out! I laminated these to preserve them to able to use it for my other daughter’s birthday. What big sister does, I guess so will she. I hope you enjoyed these quick tips for a Sailor Moon Party on a budget. Thank you so much for visiting me and until next time!
