Tips & Tricks For Road Trips With Kids

GOING ON A ROAD TRIP? GOOD NEWS, I’M SHARING TIPS & TRICKS FOR A ROAD TRIP WITH LITTLE KIDS TO ENSURE A SMOOTH RIDE! #MOMWIN *THIS POST INCLUDES AMAZON AFFILIATE LINKS.

Spring break is what we look forward to in the middle of the school year. It’s a time where we can forget about our responsibilities at work or at home. It’s a time when we can enjoy a full week with our kids without worrying about bedtime! It doesn’t mean that we as parents get more time to do absolutely nothing because in reality we end up doing much more on vacations and trips. The only reason that makes all our planning and hard work worth it is the memories that we will be making as a family and to fully enjoy time with our kids during Spring break. This spring break, we are going on a road trip and I’ll be sharing some tips and tricks to make the journey on a road with kids run smoothly.

PACKING CUBES IN YOUR DUFFLE BAG

One of my most efficient and trusted ways to pack for the family is using duffle bags and packing cubes. I use a large duffle bag called the Superstar from Jujube and the smaller duffle bags for each of the kids. Those ones are called Starlet and it is the perfect size for all their needs. Inside these duffle bags, I use the starter set packing cubes by Ez Packing. The more we use these cubes overtime, the easier it is to pack these. Now it’s like breathing air, takes no effort! Here is my cheat sheet for packing your family’s clothes using the Starter Set and you can check out the video on how I pack them for kids.
LARGE: A WEEK’S WORTH OF OUTFITS
MEDIUM: PAJAMAS & CAMISOLES
SMALL: UNDERWEAR/BRAS/TEES/TANKTOPS
XSMALL: SOCKS, PACK EXTRA!

SNUGGLE BLANKETS FOR THE CAR RIDE

Road trips is pretty self explanatory when it comes to kids. They will be somewhat uncomfortable and most of the time… they will probably be exhausted from impatience and take a nap. Nap time on the road is definitely a blissful time for the parents. No more “Are we there yet” or those dreadful sighs that somehow sound so much louder than it really is. I always bring snuggle blankets by Bebe Au Lait EVERYTIME we have a road trip somewhere. They can cuddle with it, keep warm, and feel safe and snug in their own seats. I have one for each of my kids and one for me, too since Bebe Au Lait has a large size that is the perfect size for adults. The Classic blankets are made of such soft cotton material and the Oh So Soft Muslin is made of cotton and bamboo blend. Also, their newest print is called Bunny tails & Garland and it is by far the cutest and my favorite because hello, bunnies!

SNACKS, TOYS, & BOOKS

We know we have to pack a special bag for each of the kids to keep them entertained. We do have a DVD player in our car and that helps pass the time so much, but if you don’t… don’t feel bad about bringing an iPad with downloaded movies from Netflix for them. There’s nothing wrong with this and if this is your way, go for it. I also have my kids pack their favorite books and toys as well as snacks in their little backpacks. Jujube Mini Be is the best backpack that kids can use for trips such as these. It is small enough that it won’t take up so much room in the car, but it is also big enough for all of their needs. Aside from toys and books, I pack a ZoLi sumo snack tower & water bottles in their bags. You know why I like packing these for them? Less “Mommy, mommy, mommy” voices in the car, ha!

JUJUBE BFF FOR YOUR BAG & KIDS

As a mom, you will always need a “diaper bag”. These are quoted because even though my kids are older and do not wear diapers anymore, I still need these bags with serious mom passion. I cannot lie and say that I don’t need to bring a bag filled with kids stuff because you just never know what is going to happen. My favorite bag to bring for road trips is this Jujube BFF. It’s no wonder why it’s named the BFF because it literally IS your BFF. Convertible bags are it right now and probably forever because of it’s efficiency. This has both backpack straps and messenger straps so you can change them however it fits your day. I have a full, more detailed review and features of this bag that you can read here. The one pictured is one of Jujube’s newest collection called the Rose collection which features rose gold hardware. This releases April 3rd on the dot at midnight so if you love this, put this in your calendar!

MAMA’S ROAD TRIP ATTIRE

Last but definitely not the least, I always wear an outfit that is super comfortable. Can you even call it an outfit because of how basic it is? Haha, it’s like I’m wearing pajamas. Usually, I wear hoodies but this time I’m opting for a lightweight pullover because usually I find that I get kind of hot in the car with the heater running. This one is by Evy’s Tree, but you totally can use any that you have!  I usually wear leggings also but I recently went shopping at H&M and found these joggers and I find that I love this even more. It’s not constricting and it has pockets, ha! To finish the look, I am wearing my Basic Mom cap from Mom Culture.  Hats are a nice touch if you’re going for a sporty, relaxed look if that makes sense. Sporty and relaxed? HA! I am so ready for this Spring Break Road Trip and I am so at ease because I have planned ahead. Planning for the family is my jam because it ensures a smooth ride, no pun intended. Well mama friends, thank you so much for visiting my blog and I hope that you have a wonderful Spring break as well. See you on the next post!

These are great tips and I love the luggage set. It looks amazing. Our big tips for road trips are having enough snacks for the kids to munch on, we make sure that they have a selection of DVD’s to watch in the player and water bottles!
