Welcome To Ocean Shores

Ocean Shores is quickly becoming a favorite family getaway. There’s something about small towns that just feels like a second home, you know? This would be our second Spring visit here and we loved it both times! It’s along the shores of the beautiful Washington state and it is a nice and relaxing place to visit during Spring and Summer. This year, we got a chance to explore more of what the town has to offer!

MURPHY’S CANDY & ICE CREAM

172 W Chance a La Mer NW Ocean Shores WA 98569

Ice cream shop and a candy store in one spot? I think that is like the kids haven right here. It was nice and sunny both days during our stay there and of course it’s no question we’ve gotta get some cream!

There were plentiful of flavors for moms, pops, and kids alike to choose from. There were also some sorbet choices that does not contain dairy, but just to let you know that they disclose cross contamination without hesitation. If you have kids with allergies, take note! Our two oldest kids favorites are cookies and cream, hubby chose the coffee, and me… chai flavor!

On the right side of the ice cream booth, there are candies all along the wall but they are mostly mainstream candies that you can find anywhere. On the left side of the store by the way, has LOTS of salt water taffy flavors! As you can see here, there are two rows and it goes from one wall to the other so there is for sure at least one flavor that you’ll love.Besides, totally fun to pick out some candies with your kiddos!

OCEAN SHORES KITES

172 W Chance a La Mer NW, Ocean Shores, WA 98569

This place… one word. FUN. There are so many kites to choose from but that’s not all there is. There are some fun other toys and beach toys for your kids if you don’t own some or forgot to bring your own. We walked out of these stores with some crazy toys like the whoopee cushion the the kids won’t stop making noises from. Lol!

OCEAN SHORES PHARMACY

172 W Chance a La Mer NW, Ocean Shores, WA 98569

We actually didn’t know this store was called the Ocean Shores Pharmacy when we walked in because well it didn’t look like your typical pharmacy. We couldn’t see the names of the stores as we were cruising through all the stores, but when we walked out…. I was like legit surprised because this store is so fun. I mean, just keep reading.

There were A LOT of clothes here and I mean VERY many. From tanks, shirts, hoodies, zippered hoodies, and that includes kids as well. There were also tons of gifts and souvenirs. Also, I’m not too sure why whenever we visit a beach area that we always flock to the lifeguard hoodies? I do want to share that these specific ones that my husband is wearing and posing silly from is seriously great quality and SO warm, so um… we kind of got ones for each of our family members. You’ll see later. By the way, this red color is stunning.

BEACH TOWN TOYS

172 W Chance a La Mer NW Ocean Shores WA 98569

Who else is sad that Toys R Us are closing? Our family is taking it kind of hard because it’s part of our birthday tradition. I’m sure there are many families like ours that take their kiddos to pick out their own birthday present, so really sad it’s closing. Anyway, getting off track here but speaking of toy stores… Beach Town Toys are not actually beach toys, but they have so many super cute selections for boys and girls to choose from if you’re spending their birthdays here. Are any of your kids rocks fanatics? My youngest daughter loves seashells, rocks, or well okay, anything that is pretty and colorful. This toy store has what looks like a mining cart filled with so many rocks of different colors. It costs five dollars to fill up a small bag with their choice of rocks! So fun and such a nice collection to build from if your kids love these.

Since this was our youngest child’s birthday, she got to pick out a toy and I can’t even believe the Calico Critters selection. A whole shelf from top to bottom with all the different animal families. I almost died, because I love these, too. I wanted to get her ALL of them plus the travel trailer set and some kind of house  they had next to this. It’s a bit blurred out from the photo below, but I think you can see it a bit!

This house, though. That table, though. I NEED. I mean… she needs. Where do they even get that table? It even has drawers to put more cute toys in it. There’s a whole other area there that had video games, books, and POP figurines!

THE SANDY BEACH

Remember the beach I spoke about earlier? Like if you’re going to the beach, you should wear lifeguard sweaters! If you’re going to visit Ocean Shores, though there is no way you would NOT want to visit the beach. It’s the whole purpose of coming here! I think Summer is the best time to come here if you’re looking for sun and beach life, but during Spring, you should still bundle up! I think this area is called Armstrong Bay on Protection Island!

Anyway, about the cold, that doesn’t mean that you won’t have fun though because beach life is so relaxing, everyone! It was so nice just to walk along the shore or even just to sit down and watch your kids play. The fresh and cool air is just so rejuvenating!

Great winds to fly your kite! We brought our own kite, but if you don’t have one, visit the store above. It’s so nice to just be able to dig, build sand castles, fly a kite, walk/jog, and not even worry about responsibilities!

There you have it! Ocean Shores is a nice area for your family to visit if you’re in the area or simply looking for a new place to visit. We came here with our travel trailer and we stayed at a simple RV Park called the Quinalt RV Marina Park right next to the beach on the Indian reservation. Thank you for visiting and until next time!

Although it was a side note I have to say that my family is extremely sad about Toys’ R us seeing as we went there every Christmas to build my son’s wish list. Thinking that my youngest will never know what it’s like to walk into that store literally brings a tear to my eye.
As to Ocean Shores we will definitely have to look into it for our next family vaca and chai ice cream sounds DELICIOUS.

The murphy’s candy and ice cream shop looks amazing! If I’m going to splurge on ice cream, homemade authentic ice cream is the best!
