Royal BC Museum

History class was one of my favorite subjects in school. There is something so special in realizing the beginning of our own story. Over spring break, we got to learn about Canada’s history at the Royal BC Museum from the first people until now. My children love to learn as well and they had an amazing time seeing how different the Natives lived and how everything changed through time. This museum is very educational while also being lots of fun to walk through.

We parked on the back and came through this beautiful building. I love Canada’s structures and designs so you know we had to take a picture before we head in.

Natural History

First, we saw all the forest animals as well as plants and trees of British Columbia. The wolf was my kids favorite!

Ocean Station & Seashore

We also experienced the Ocean Station which was a really nice hands-on experience for the kids. Oh wow, we must have stayed in this area for a good twenty minutes!

First Peoples

Next, we learned about the first peoples! We saw totem poles, huts, weapons, clothing, faces, ceremonial houses, and more. At times as I was walking through each room, I imagined myself living there and how its like to live in a different time.

Modern History

The modernization area was something more similar, but at the same time it still is so different. Just look at this kitchen and the appliances!

Can I just please share how awesome this theater is? Oh my gosh, even the ticketing area is amazing. I love historical places like this that tells the story of time in a single place. I think I may love this place so much that I wish theaters still looked like this nowadays.

As if the whole museum isn’t incredible enough but they also have narratives that the we can listen to. I think when we first entered the First Peoples, there was so many of these that shared with us different ways to say Hello in all the Native languages.

We had such a great time in this museum and we saw that there is an Egyptian event going on right now. I wish we could go again to see this one, but if you’re around in the area I would strongly suggest you catch this event! Thank you so much for visiting my blog and until next time!
